Longboard Surfing Hall of Fame & Museum
A Living Museum of Longboard Surfing Heritage
Mission
To honor the legends of longboard surfing, preserve the rich history and culture of the sport, and inspire future generations by celebrating the artistry, innovation, and community spirit that define longboarding.
Vision
To build a living, traveling institution — not confined to one building — that brings the history and legacy of longboard surfing directly to the communities where surfing lives, today and for generations to come.
Why It Matters
Surfing history is disappearing. Photographs fade. Films deteriorate. Boards are lost. Many of the people who shaped longboard surfing have never had their stories documented in one place. The Hall of Fame exists to preserve those stories before they’re gone forever.
How We Exist
Unlike a traditional museum, the Hall of Fame will live in multiple forms:
- Mobile Museum — a traveling exhibit that visits surf contests, festivals, schools, and community events
- Digital Museum — a permanent online archive of every inductee and artifact
- Pop-Up Exhibitions — temporary installations at surf festivals and cultural events
- Permanent Collection — the future physical home where the collection continues to grow
Purpose
The Longboard Surfing Hall of Fame exists to:
- Celebrate Excellence — recognize the surfers, innovators, and contributors who shaped longboarding
- Preserve History — safeguard photographs, film, boards, and personal stories before they’re lost
- Engage Communities — bring immersive storytelling and education directly to where people are
- Promote Inclusivity — reflect the full diversity of the global longboarding community
